Darlene’s parents immigrated to the U.S. from México, working low-wage manual labor jobs alongside extended family who labored in California’s Central Valley farmworker communities. That lived proximity to the people who power our economy while being denied its protections drives her work at The Workers Lab, where she manages a core product application that equips labor leaders with tools to advocate for better wages and conditions. Her roots in low-income Latine communities directly inform how she approaches product work, ensuring technology is built with and for the people it’s meant to serve, including through Spanish-language features. As a Latina in tech, she is motivated to grow in a field where representation remains rare. Outside of work, Darlene is a published poet who loves traveling, taking singing lessons, and watching films. She has a B.A. in History with a minor in French from UC Santa Barbara.
